Fisher King title and legends are connected to the Messianic mythos

Many of the titles, roles and mythos are synonymous to the point where many aspects of it are mentioned in the Bible (Jesus' preaching and being able to feed the crowds with fish he called, his being called "The Fisher of Men" (New Testament, Book 1:17) and especially the idea that the Grail lineage passed down from Jesus, to King Arthur in some fashion. This link has a lot of information as to biblical references to Jesus' identification with fish: http://www.mazzaroth.com/ChapterSix/FishersOfMen.htm. Further, in the book, "High History of the Holy Grail", the Fisher King is actually called 'Messios'.
The connection between the Fisher King and Jesus/the Messiah inspired a large part of the Grail legends, and those legends are connected to the Arthurian mythos.

That actually seems cosmically plausible - but I really hope this is not the case

But that has always been the case. I am astounded that it isn't recognized more often...

This. There's a reason one of his archetypes is the Fisher King. *NM*

The issue is that the Fisher King story is about the Land, not the People

None of this is contradicted by what I have posited

But the chess analogy is what I'm seeing - the Dragon is necessary in degree not in total.

The Fisher King is not a messianic myth.

I, personally, like it. It makes sense for the Dragon to be an incarnation of the Serpent.
