I think this is a grey area in how those particular sentences are read. I only remember it from the audio.

The way I read it, Graendal thinks it's foolish for Demandred to hold the grudge. Then in the next sentence, she explains what exactly that grudge was (that he thought he could have been the Dragon himself). She herself sees that it is foolish because he could never be that because of LTT. It makes sense within the context of the LTT/Demandred relationship. Demandred wanted to be everything LTT was; he was (and still is) obsessed with LTT.
To say that Demandred could have been the Dragon probably also argues that he is stronger than Moridin, which I don't think can be true.
Oh and to quote fragments, all you have to do is place the "< quote> or < /quote> tag (with the space removed) around the phrases you want to quote.
