I thought there'd be more discussion of Ituralde's POV than there currently has been. It seems fairly obvious he planned for the Seanchan to attack the city, yet I don't think it has enough soldiers in or around it to defeat Turan's force.
With the reference to the Sul'dam and Damane, I got the impression that the ambush is not intended to take out the whole army, but is a virtual suicide mission with the key aim of wiping out the Sul'dam and Damane, leaving the Seanchan to face conventional 3 to 1 odds, without the One Power support they are so used to having.
Am I the only one who read it this way? What are others takes on his plan of attack with the city?

I agree with you that everything in Ituralde's POV points to a surgical suicide mission, but I believe you missed the purpose of the ambush. Ituralde's thoughts about following orders did not always mean you live, never mind win were very telling.
Of course the "farmers" in the field are going to focus on the group of 100 chained channelers with thier bows and at worst take out a large portion of the Seanchan one power force, but what about the uniforms?
It was clearly stated that Ituralde and his top officers did not have thier uniforms on because they were needed elsewhere. Like being worn by some of the soldiers inside the doomed Durlana. This gives the Seanchan the false impression that they have lopped off the head of the snake, and now focus most of thier offensive moves against the other of the two armies they are currently sandwiched between.
The misdirection buys Ituralde some time to attack on his terms at the Seanchan's back, while they think Ituralde's forces must be trying to regroup after the loss of thier battle commander.
