I think you are misunderstanding what I meant darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 18/05/2012 04:22:38 PM
We also know thanks to Moghedien that those simple commands (I.e. don't trust men, the DR is scary etc...), must be something the person already basically believes or wants ... "LIVE Liandrin" essentially made it impossible for Liandrin to put herself in a situation where she could kill herself, even though she had effectively been Stilled. For Egwene to be effected by something like this, the seed of the belief would have had to have been there or she would have struggled with the command.

I think the seed(s) were there, for instance Egwene would have had a fear of male channelers, as any resident of the WOTverse would have had considering the breaking of the world.
Often considering men to be 'woolheaded' does not show a lot of trust in males of the world. There is also the situation she is in, namely being surrounded by scheming AS. These factors, I really believe, would make Egwene highly susceptible to a bit of subtle compulsion.

What I am talking about is not "subtle compulsion" ... What happened to Liandrin was not subtle at all ... It's more like an unbreakable command that consumed her life. Twisting small beliefs into actionable ones seems to be a very advanced form of Comulsion that only Graendal has evidenced enough Talent to achieve ... Moghedien fell back onto this Command version because she was not skilled enough to do other forms.
