She could have, for example, taken poison, and then Egwene could have Healed just as it became fatal; I actually think this is another one of those nagging situations that look like one of the protagonist didn't really think about what was happening.

The Oath said the hour of your death, it didn't say anything about dying and being Healed at just the right time. All that seemed to be required was Verin's belief that she was dying.
