Well, Verin is roughly equal in strength to Merana and Alanna, and the three aren't especially strong (they are at level 8, making them able to Travel, but not especially strong in the grand scheme of things). That being said, there are indications that Verin has some talent with the weather and that she is better than average at Healing, so she has useful abilities despite her moderate strength.
