... that would mean that your timeline goes something like this:

1- Rand seizes the Power
2- Aran'gar feels the immense amount of One Power Rand is channeling.
3- Aran'gar warns Graendal about the immense amount of Power Rand is channeling.
4- Graendal seizes the Power.
5- Graendal weaves a Gateway.
6- Graendal, Aran'gar and whoever else steps through the Gateway.
7- Graendal shuts the Gateway.
8- Rand weaves balefire.

One would expect that the length of time between steps 4 and 5 would be the same as between steps 1 and 8...
