Rand vs. a Forsaken climax, which we have in almost all books. Those confrontations always end with the Forsaken beaten, captured or dead. It would be a complete surprise, if RJ suddenly changed this just for an idiotic twist. Plus, the whole scene where Rand explains his brilliant plan would be completely ridiculous, if Graendal already sneaked away.
Never, ever before has Rand shown an almost reverential fear of the Foresaken he's going to fight.
He faced Rahvin, Sammael and Lanfear. He faced and captured Asmodean. In all these instances, Rand has physical worries, but never once is he hesitant. Never once does he go into the battle wary and afraid.
Never once does he try to use his brains. Never once has he said or thought that all his actions would be planned for well before he even thought of them.
And that build up was justified and reiterated throughout the series. Whether as manipulation or as truth, Graendal is the only Foresaken Moridin praises and commends. Only utter fools like Aran'gar think to play her. Warier minds like Rahvin, Sammael and Demandred state right out that playing any kind of game with her was suicidal.
There is little or no doubt that it is Graendal, and not Lanfear, who was Moridin's female counterpart.
I'd be totally unsurprised that Rand's plan, which was based on the hope of surprise, is doomed to failure. That's the way RJ built up this character, and that's the way the lead up to her "death" was written.
Your insistence there is no mystery over her death is baffling, as Brandon himself said there was an intentional effort to create doubt.
Of all the Forsaken, heck, of all the Characters, the one person whose death we should doubt without a body is Graendal.
So your name is Graendal...
