Somehow I always forget that this is where the rift between Percy and his family actually happens. Percy is interesting to me. He's so smart and capable but so oblivious to the fact that he is being used. I know how Percy can't see that he's being used by Fudge, but I think it's really sad that he doesn't trust his parents more than he craves being successful. It's ironic that he's the example the twins have been encouraged to aspire to but they are far better people.
Reading the section where they are cleaning out the cupboard in the drawing room and Harry says Kreacher uses words he'd not heard before reminded me of something I like about Rowling's writing. She lets the adults fill in the blanks for profanity that characters would use but that way the kids aren't exposed to it. Just another aspect of her talent of suggestion I guess.
I agree. I think it shows good writing when authors don't have to be extreme or explicit to get their point across. Like you said, adults will know what she means (and probably a lot of kids too) so there is no need to come out and say it.
