I seem to recall her having a spy in the pub? Draco?
This was the guy that was muggle-baiting with the regurgitating toilets. He was the hooded figure in the Hog's Head that was covered in bandages, IIRC, because something went wrong with one of the toilets. Turning the DA in got him off his charges with the ministry, with the help of Umbridge. That's the only reason I remember, because it was yet another corrupt act on the woman's part in the name of "the good."
Ah yes. That was it.
I cannot help appreciate the irony of Hermione and Ron and the rest forcing themselves to say and hear "Voldemort", as a method of standing up to him and the fear he generates, when that is what brings them so much trouble later on. If they had just kept to the the wizarding standard of "you-know-who", they'd have had an easier time of it in the forest.
This is true for almost everyone, once they finally start to say it. I thought it was an interesting twist to DH that they actually taboo'd the name like that, after 6 books of insistance that it was just a name.
Yes.
Harry's fears that Sirius will throw "caution to the winds" is clearly something which troubles him a lot, setting him up for Voldemort's exploiting that fear.
Funny too that he doesn't seem to worry about throwing caution to the winds himself, despite his concern for Sirius.
It is a nice reversal of the situation in the last book, where Harry is told to be careful constantly, while Sirius runs around the world.
Also, the hose-elves find it insulting that Hermione is leaving clothes out for them. It is therefore not about her power to release them, but about her desire to do so.
This is my biggest problem with what Hermoine's doing. The elves don't want it. Why not campaign for treating them better first and move towards this when they're ready or want it? Imagine the chaos of 50 wailing house elves if she had inadvertently freed all of them at Hogwarts! I certainly would have skipped those sections.
Yes.
