and they view each other as father and son (the biological father has never been in the picture). I think that this makes our relationship rather a bit different.
What you write about makes a lot of sense, although I don't think this will impact us in the same way. But who knows, this may be one of those things where we just think something works one way and later one we find out that we didn't have a clue what we were talking about.
