So, everyone hates Judith, then? beetnemesis Send a noteboard - 12/05/2011 06:40:11 PM
They have removed books known as the Apocrypha - Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus (not to be confused with Ecclesiastes), Baruch, the latter parts of Daniel and Esther and a few other books. No Protestant denomination has ADDED any books to the canon, however.

Mormons, of course, added their own book that pretty much contradicts the Bible on every major theological point while still claiming to be Christians, but most Christian denominations would not consider them properly "Christian" from a doctrinal standpoint. They may perhaps recognize them in a human and personal way, but not in any formal way.

There aren't any groups that go "Judith is the Word of God, silenced by the Papists, who have lost their way?"

Hm, interesting.

And, since you seem to have some knowledge of this, do you know why certain books were disavowed by Catholics or various Protestant denominations? Was there much historical research done, or was it more politically motivated? Or is the official reasoning in the vein of "I prayed, and God has revealed the truth"
I amuse myself.
