Mormons, of course, added their own book that pretty much contradicts the Bible on every major theological point while still claiming to be Christians, but most Christian denominations would not consider them properly "Christian" from a doctrinal standpoint. And, since you seem to have some knowledge of this, do you know why certain books were disavowed by Catholics or various Protestant denominations? Was there much historical research done, or was it more politically motivated? Or is the official reasoning in the vein of "I prayed, and God has revealed the truth"
