I don't even know what following the Bible in its entirety means.

It's a book that combines the wholesale slaughter of cities with injunctions to love thy neighbor.
As for me, I'm a universalist, so I guess your criticism on that point is valid. I don't see why you say there's a distinction between Christianity and universalism. There have been universalist and exclusivist Christians since at least Origen. Even if Christ is the only way to salvation, it doesn't necessarily follow that people are going to end up damned.
Anyway, that's an aside. As to why having a Bible is good, my ill-formed point was that it's not needed from a prescriptive moral standpoint (i.e. "Thou Shalt Not" ). Just because morals are intuitive doesn't mean salvation is.

Thank you for that rousing argument against married priests.

Why ARE you letting women into the priesthood?

Because Episcopalians don't listen to the Bible much.

That's just fine as far as I'm concerned

Yes, I suppose a church could go that route.

I'm not attempting to impose a dichotomy on the Bible.

As an exercise, I tried to think of how I would justify allowing homosexuals as clergy.

Thanks (I'm actually OK with women priests though).

There's ample precedent for female religious leaders, even within the bible.

I'm happy to hear this, personally. I also wonder how you reconcile this with the Bible.

There are cases in which hypocrisy is far better than the alternatives.

My statement is that, from a pragmatic point of view, hypocrisy shouldn't be discouraged too much.
