Re: Cool cool. I have a question on a semi-related note, about Protestant Gospels Isaac Send a noteboard - 12/05/2011 08:52:48 PM
As Tom mentioned, adding books is generally a big no-no for protestants, also usually the term Apocrypha (when not being used as a sneer) to protestants represents books that are considered useful bot not divinely inspired, I guess a non-biblical example would be Aesop's Fables.

So, yeah. Are there any variations in the New Testament between branches of Christianity? Only ones I can think of off hand are the Book of Mormon, and that one where everything Jesus says is in red ink.

Red Letter Bibles aren't to my knowledge controversial, what does or doesn't get red-lettered sometimes is, and I don't think the Mormons consider their book to be part of the new testament, but you'd have to ask one of them, there are some on the site.

As for variations, this is mostly on translation, not which books are in or out, deuterocanonical books mostly are out, nothing gets added. Translations though would be the NIV, NSRV, KJV, and things like the Message, too the best of my knowledge the NIV is usually considered the best current translation by most protestants, that is how I view it but that opinion is rooted strictly in being told it is by pastors who knew Koine, my knowledge of Greek languages is limited to the use of the letters in mathematical formulas.
