I get that you like to be an irascible troll a lot, Rod, but like I told trzaska: It's all fun and games until 68 innocent children are murdered simply for being liberals. The left has NOT "been doing that for years"; people like the Soviets, the "Red" Chinese and Al Qaeda (whose ideology is pretty far left if you look at it) do it, but liberals in the civilized world don't try to paint them as conservatives just because their actions rightly horrify us. Yes, you call a spade a spade (though I don't care for that phrase because of its origins). I'm sick and tired of this absurd "any crime my side commits is acceptable because they did it first" rationalization. It's not valid even when it's true (if you're as bad as they are why should I support either of you?) and it's usually not even true in the first place. Get off YOUR high horse and take a loot at yourself; as Lene points out, NO ONE ON EARTH objects to Breivik being called the far right terrorist he is--except for the American far right increasingly and dangerously detached from reality. The British are investigating their own far right because Breivik claims to have visited and met with them as well as being mentored by one of their members. The Norwegian far right party admits with shame that Breivik was a member nearly a decade ago before he became too extreme and quit.

It may just be online fun for you, but, although the increasingly violent and intolerant far right rhetoric in America doesn't (necessarily) create sociopaths, it DOES suggest targets for them, and you can't wash your hands of that. Personally, I've begun to wonder if the rhetorical practices of dehumanizing and demonizing the opposition, placing all ones own interests above all those of anyone else, DOES induce sociopathy in regular citizens as surely as it does in terrorist training camps and did in the ACTUAL Hitler Youth Beck referenced. You can't go around telling your acolytes you're at war with the devil incarnate who must be stopped by any means, then angrily deny culpability when they start shooting people.
