I'm a little wound up, yes, but a lot of it is the shameful and dangerous reaction from the American far right who injected themselves into this tragedy to complain about being injected. Their unprompted suggestion that mass murder somehow disqualifies a far right extremist from being far right, that the worst shooting massacre in history is somehow an indictment of the innocent victims rather than horrifying evidence of what intolerant hatred of them can do, is telling and disturbing to me. As I say, if something like this can happen in a country as peaceful and liberal as Norway and the only reaction from the American far right is to deny the undeniable fact the murderer was a far right terrorist, complain about that statement of fact, what does it say about the safety of liberals in America? They're indignantly disputing, yet again, that encouraging unrestrained pitiless efforts to annihilate their political opposition doesn't incite mass violence against those foes. It's suicidal to ignore that in the face of such a staggering tragedy disproving it. They didn't contribute to the massacre on Utøya or the bombing in Oslo, but allowing them to pretend they don't knowingly or otherwise encourage such things at home, even as they insist murder precludes them sharing any ideology with someone who shares nearly all their ideology, would be dangerously foolish.

I think what I OUGHT to do is channel all of this into a multiculture allegory I already intended to make a novel of anyway, but I'm hopping a plane back north in about two hours so it'll have to wait till then. All that said, I would be remiss if I didn't add Bill O'Reilly protesting too much to this thread; since he's taking issue with Breivik being identified as a Christian simply for repeately claiming to be (but still, ultimately, as an indictment of the ever ominous "liberal media" ) it seems like I should at least briefly address that.
