Toms recent thread on 911 conspiracy theorists illustrate the concept well, though that is far from the only example; unreasonable doubt is the bread and butter of conspiracy theories. Ironically, I happen to be re-watching the end of "Inception" with the wife; that films pivotal revelation is also a fine illustration. There is a reason science studies routinely state conclusions made "at a x% level of confidence" rather that stating them to as indisputable absolute FACTS. Absolute certainty is nigh impossible in the real world; it only seems otherwise if we fail to question our assumptions, which is a poor manner in which to decide whether to execute a man.
