I did a test today on information seeking. I looked up summaries of the Sumerian Language (I had read it on Wikipedia a few weeks ago, so it was relatively fresh). It seems the quality of information from certain sites was relatively the same or higher than that Wiki article. Then I discovered that there were mirrors of Wikipedia that still worked. It was nice to discover that when I wanted an educational time-sink, I could avoid Wikipedia and learn more in the process, which might underscore a tiny bit of the argument behind the dramatic protest.

But the saddest victims in all this were the students who couldn't plagiarize today from Wikipedia. Who's going to protest for them?
