So that excuses thought control? Tom Send a noteboard - 25/07/2012 11:49:58 PM
It's not like the athlete in question firebombed immigrant housing or marched in rallies that advocated violence. She has an opinion that apparently is that non-Greeks should not be in Greece. It's probably not the smartest policy in that it helps nations stagnate, but on the other hand, European nations have a right to discuss how much immigration they want and what restrictions to place on the influx of people who could dilute cultures that have been around for some time. In other words, people have a right to believe in their country as a national homeland.

What if, for example, the government banned someone because he or she was critical of a government policy? The issue isn't whether or not they had the power; it's whether or not they abused it. In my mind, both the points that I made represent an abuse of power.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

Being on a country's Olympic team is a privilege, not a right - 25/07/2012 11:00:24 PM 792 Views
So banning blacks would be cool if it was legal in that country? - 25/07/2012 11:08:52 PM 953 Views
If that's how the country wants to run itself - 25/07/2012 11:13:04 PM 825 Views
