The problem with all of these Utopian ideals is the all ignore the fundamentals truths of human nature and would just trade one form of corruption and class for a worse form with less checks and balances. A bunch of powerful and corrupt unions controls things and fighting their own self-interest would just take back to the bad old days of unregulated cabalism. Look at ineffective and corrupt the weak unions we have now are. How putting them in charge can be seen as a good idea is a little staggering.
