Forgot to say: Seems an ACTUAL koan states we cannot find all answers because questions would cease Joel Send a noteboard - 17/08/2013 03:14:18 AM

Or at least, such is the declaration of the "Bones" rerun we watched last night. I am frankly dubious; koans are classically questions so fundamentally contradictory they PRECLUDE answer (the omnipotence paradox is a good Western example wholly outside Zen.) Koans are meant to shake the minds foundation so suddenly and forcefully they collapse, leaving it open and passive, so we stop thinking and start simply being; actually FINDING an answer, however profound, would miss the point entirely. As such, STATEMENTS make more poor koans, whether they state profundity or merely have that pretense.

Anyway, enjoy todays Quick Poll.
