I am frankly dubious; koans are classically questions so fundamentally contradictory they PRECLUDE answer (the omnipotence paradox is a good Western example wholly outside Zen.) Koans are meant to shake the minds foundation so suddenly and forcefully they collapse, leaving it open and passive, so we stop thinking and start simply being; actually FINDING an answer, however profound, would miss the point entirely. As such, STATEMENTS make more poor koans, whether they state profundity or merely have that pretense.
