For sure; it made additional playthroughs fun even after beating the game.

... who attacks you from a space barely as wide as he is. I somehow managed to get him to cast a lightning bolt angled directly into the wall, and it just formed a wall of electricity that disintegrated every kobold that tried to pass through.
Lightning bolts are glorious
.
Lightning bolts are glorious
.I probably missed out on a lot of stuff like that because, in BGI especially (where my saves were crap,) I lived in fear of ever letting wizards get off a spell. I stocked up on poison arrows at the first opportunity and hoped my specced fighter could get a few into him and he failed his saves before he could cast, so the per round damage ensured he never DID cast.
Yeah, lightning bolts are sweet though. Except for that chess match in Durlags Tower, but you can use that to your advantage if you have enough HP and/or some anti-magic potions handy.
I do not know if it is because of playing them at different points in my life or because EVERYTHING is challenging at first level, but for whatever reason, BGI is just more fun for me than BGII. For one thing, taking the time to explore everything and prepping for the big fights meant by the time I got to ToB my characters were practically demigods already; embracing the Bhaalspawn destiny just made it official.
