No, it's not - but a lot of people commenting on them just seem to assume that that means the female characters in the books are depicted as weak or vapid, which is pretty absurd. And considering the travesty that is Nynaeve's storyline so far, plus the infamous fridging incident, it's pretty rich for people involved in the series to be claiming that the TV show has more depth in its female characters than the books. </Quote>
The Perrin's wife arc is absolutely terrible, but I've found Nynaeve to be fine. They've done a good job keeping the core of the character the same but made her less abrasive because I don't think that's going to work as well on screen. It works fine for me.
Hardly. You just don't see Egwene only through Rand's PoV, on the show. So it's harder to just buy his biased views as the ground truth..Egwene does genuinely have good reason to trust Moiraine more than Rand, in the books. We just don't get her PoV in the first book, so we have to fill in the blanks, which readers without sufficient brain power take to mean she has no reasons. Same with a lot of other stuff, where the show has to change nothing at all to make her "more" sympathetic. All it takes is some critical reading skills.

So he went and rewrote her so as to have a character people wouldn't loathe.
Or at least, that's what the first episodes suggest and I would've expected them to do anyhow, we'll have to see how she evolves later on.
