What I said was more that them 'checking the box' doesn't in the least bother me unless it flies in the face of realism, which in Star Wars it almost per definition can't. Now, in the case of the 'can a black guy be James Bond' debate, the story is different, and there my reply would be something along the lines of 'it's not impossible, but it does require a modernizing of the whole franchise along certain lines to make sense'.

If it helps you sleep any better, I could also reduce the whole thing to Disney being a business out to make a buck, or a couple billion of 'em, by selling their toys and all to as many kids as possible all over the world.
