I'm not convinced that it does ranagrande Send a noteboard - 05/09/2009 05:44:10 PM
According to you, is someone asks me to kill someone, and I grab a gun and shoot them down in the street, then I'm blameless, and in your universe would get off because someone else asked me to.
Some societies and situations actually operate the way you just described. Many people were involved, directly or indirectly, in your example crime. The one who incited or hired you to murder was as guilty as you, and would be treated accordingly by most human justice systems if caught. It isn't really relevant though, because those societies and systems, and the lives of the people involved, are all quite superfluous.

I hope you are not a parent because your children will learn that 90% of their actions are inconsequential.
I think that estimate is a little low. I would say that 100% of our actions are inconsequential, in effect, if not in truth. That is, our actions do have consequences (or seem to), but the consequences themselves are inconsequential in the grand scheme of things like time and the universe. Things which, by the way, are superfluous.

It may all sound a bit bleak and fatalistic, and it kind of is, but it's really not. Paradox is fun.

Oh and you don't need to worry. I am not a parent. :P
