IMO, you clearly misinterpret what RJ wanted to express with "road kill". Considering how closemouthed he was concerning the murder, it seems very unlikely that he would give away if it was basically just an unluckly accident or if the murder was planned. Most likely he just wanted to make clear his reasons as an author for letting Asmo die. The Opportunity statement also doesn't speak against this, since also a hired killer needs a good opportunity above all other things to pull it off.
