Brandon brings out supporting chars. better, it's true. FanEditor10 Send a noteboard - 04/06/2010 03:17:52 AM
The guy came up with an absurd "language", his world's history is seriously messed up, he's even screwed up on what Ajah people are from - do you really think he gave much thought to this?

Brandon Sanderson would have if he wrote the series from the beginning - he looks into peoples' motives a lot better than Jordan ever did. I still don't know why people do the stupid things they do half the time in Wheel of Time.

As much as I love RJ, and I feel he made the MAIN characters very three-dimensional, Brandon Sanderson did things with some of the supporting characters that made them stand out more than ever before. For example Mat's man Talmanes. All of that "laughter on the inside" stuff from tGS. Before that novel, I never heard anything as funny as:

“I’m not giving up gambling,” Mat muttered. “Or drinking.”
“So I believe you’ve told me,” Talmanes said. “Three or four times so far. I half believe that if I were to peek into your tent at night, I’d find you mumbling it in your sleep. ‘I’m going to keep bloody gambling! Bloody, bloody gambling and drinking! Where’s my bloody drink? Anyone want to gamble for it?’ And he said all that with a completely straight face.” (p. 317)

Thanks Brandon.
