We've seen Mesaana, Ishamael, Demandred and Semirhage trot out tons of intricate, overly complicated plans and three out of the four people on that list are still alive.
There is nothing complicated about Graendals' "plan" - some posters have suggested overly complicated ways to go about it, but I tend to stick with the most simple means of execution for a position she's repeatedly stated throughout the series - she arranged things to be able to pack up and leave as soon as Rand or any of his entourage found her and did so. Nothing that complicated, really: essentially, her plan was not to be there when he decided to attack. It just so happens that the method he chose does not appear to be the best method to use against someone who had contingency plans involving a hasty escape.
