While the lack of mention of the angreal is telling (and later Graendal is angry that some priceless artifacts of the OP were destroyed by Rand, could one be the angreal?), she may well have been using it at that time. But even so, she wove wo shields and a Gateway at one go. That still seems to imply clearly that she was stronger than Aran'gar, which is the crux of my point.


and it seems likely that Graendal would have needed the angreal if Aran'gar was.


She was obviously caught by surprise that her Ally would throw a shield on her in the first place.
