It's possible, even likely IMO, that you can feel a shield being placed on you even if you are not holding the Source. There is no evidence in the books to suggest otherwise.
What makes it possible or likely? Except your own view of things, what in the books indicates this?
Because what I have is Siuan completely failing to realize she's been shielded. That's proof of what I'm saying.
