When Cameron was in Egypt land, let my Cameron go

Beyond the obvious, Rand is one with the land; There is a big parallel to the biblical Moses in Chapter 1. Rand (Moses) descending from Dragonmount (Sinai) to speak to the Amrylin (Pharaoh) with a message they won't like.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Well, being one with the land was never a Bible-thing, that I recall. Jesus' stigmata were never reflected on the earth, nor Moses' sufferings, nor did A&E's physical state affect the earth. Refresh me if I forgot something here. That particular trope about the land & its king/savior is straight out of many other legends and stories, Arthurian tales especially.
When comes to things that seem like allusions or such, keep in mind that certain things are always going to appear. So: brothers, parents, mountains, rivers, valleys, war, swords, dead bodies, numbers like 1, 3, 7, or 12 - these are all things that are going to pop up. I've never read the Koran, but I'm pretty sure there's something big involving Mohammad and a mountain as well.
Religion or myth = abundant use of story-telling tropes; it's part of how they (a) have a shot at connecting to people "universally," and (b) connect well enough to be remembered. Most places have something like a mountain, so any place where myths were invented, they probably threw the mountain in the story because (a) they seem connected to the heavens and (b) mountains can be worked in to stories in a lot of ways. Ducks and cats, sadly, are not used as often as I would like.
I do like the allusion that you point out, however. I sincerely hope that Egwene doesn't make such a response that a cloud of evil goes around killing people! Oh wait.

It's the style. In the Randland context, the word "grows" is more appropriate...
