minor disagreement darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 08/12/2010 05:27:51 PM
than the mechanisms they use to measure it are inaccurate. You can move at a rapid pace and be calm. Calm is a state of mind, not a state of body. One of my, mentally, calmest times is when I'm galloping on a horse. Not a very passive activity, that.

Calm is a state of body in this test. It's a display of mental discipline here. While you can be mentally calm while engaging in a strenuous activity that is a different experience than being presented with a stressful situation and being challenged to remain calm. First sign of cracks is that you start to physically show panic.

IMO Nynaeve passed because she didn't actually panic so much as she took initiative in these situations. She maintained her focus on the tasks themselves (completing the 100 weaves), but she took the whole test to another level by simultaneously defeating the tests, she accomplished more than the test was designed for.
