In short, this is like the normal distribution you get for SAT score. Like RJ, they set 200 and 800 as lower and upper limits, and fit the curve to that region. And just as 500 is the mean in that curve, 50 will be the mean in RJ's curve.

And in this kind of a truncated curve, it is indeed possible to have everyone fall within one SD of the mean.


Absolutely true. However, that distribution will look like this. Does this look like something someone would describe as a bell curve? I think not, but that's just my opinion.

More importantly, a distribution like this would mean that the probability of finding a channeler like Lanfear is almost as great as the probability of finding someone of average strength. Is that supported by evidence from the books? I think not.
