I think Mat's campaign in Altara and Ituralde's campaign in Tarabon showed a lot of strategic insight. They were both campaign's were the end goal was not the immediate defeat of the enemy but to force the enemy to move in the direction the general wished.


I actually didn't say anything criticizing Mat or Ituralde. I actually think this is a situation where RJ really did follow that golden rule "show, don't tell" - we got an opportunity to see how they worked, so it works.

The Forsaken - not so much. We see them at the tea parties and when they are confronting, running away from or a combination of the two from Rand, Moiraine or Nynaeve. It's hard to understand someone's strategic strengths when they are destroyed in combat with a concentrated opponent.
