There are two issues here...

1) Aran'gar was ousted from the Rebel camp, and had nowhere to go. She was sexually interested in Graendal, not just as an ally. Staying with her is at least a possibility. It is also possible Graendal lured him/her and compelled the stunningly beautiful and unique Aran'gar to be her pet.

2) Another issue is... what if, as I claim, Graendal planned this out? Then she'd know to expect Rand, and may have kept Aran'gar around to warn her when he comes.


That's a good theory, which would work. I don't personally think it's true because of the lack of evidence of it from Graendal's PoV in the prologue. I guess we'll see.
