Evidence that Slayer cannot travel from one point in the real world to another by passing through the world of dreams: When attempting to flee Perrin, rather than exiting the Dreamworld beyond the Tarendrelle, where he was and where he would be out of Perrin's reach, he instead returns to the spot where he supposedly fell asleep, where Perrin is and where he is surrounded by Perrin's men. This implies he did not have a choice where he would reappear in the real world.
Where did this happen (i.e., what book/chapter?)
If this is from tSR, IIRC, Perrin shot him in the chest and Slayer woke up and rode off from the camp, clutching his chest. I don't think he had time to change where he was (that requires lots of concentration in T'A'R, even from Egwene). I don't think he had entered T'A'R in the flesh if he woke up in Perrin's camp (which he did). I think he was just dreaming in that case?
Precisely. Which is why at that point (that is, until we get to meet Slayer again in Winter's Heart) we must reasonably conclude that Slayer is a Dreamer/Dreamwalker with some special powers due to his merging of two people. (As I mentioned elsewhere, at that time I thought this meant that Luc lived and Isam died, and that Isam was therefore bound to Tel'aran'rhiod as the Heroes of the Horn are.)
As for evidence that it can be done, I believe Egwene has used T'A'R to travel to different places, no?
Yes, in Lord of Chaos.
The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do lots of harm.
