Which always made me SO CONFUSED about Arwen. Pllp. He can do so much better.

So who knows, really. If she has even a hundredth of the awesomeness of her ancestor Luthien, as is heavily implied, I'm not sure he can do so much better. ;)


Arwen has to deal with prejudice from the author...I love the books, but it is clear that Tolkien is sexist.


I never felt he was purposely sexist, but rather writing about women as they were seen in his era and back down to medieval times- mostly stuck in a particular role as wife and support.
