I'm sure that Cambridge Institute is devoted to researching why the gender of words does not agree across languages. :D Note that "hand" is feminine in almost every language that has gender, however, because of early mythologies where the Creator-God, having no partner, is forced to masturbate to generate everything else.

Whereas "day" in most languages that come to mind readily is male. It's a fun topic, those genders in words - the ones that are almost everywhere the same, and the ones that aren't.
