His wife and he are the only ones in a position to really judge though, I think. I'm not sure how it would be possible for someone outside of them to know if his wife accepted his not going along because she's reached a point where she is happy to go alone and let him do his own thing or because she's angry but doesn't think it is even worth having a row about.
