That sounds appealing, and makes sense. Joel Send a noteboard - 14/05/2011 02:44:56 AM
Essentially, the Septuagint is the ultimate authority in all matters of Old Testament faith because it predates any Masoretic text. As a result, the Orthodox Church accepts ALL of the Septuagint (except Psalms of Solomon) and retains the original order of books found in the Septuagint (so Judith falls in with Ruth and Esther, for example).

BTW, the Catholics also follow the Septuagint order for the apocrypha that they have accepted. Both my Russian bible and my Vulgate (and English-language Catholic Bible) have the Septuagint books in their order in the Septuagint. It is only modern editions printed by Protestant heretics that tear them from their natural habitat. My Septuagint was printed by heretics (I believe either of the Calvinist heresy or the Henrican heresy of England) so it unnaturally separates the books.

Like a lot of things in the Orthodox Church. For example, I think a lot of Charismatics (except maybe strict Pentecostals) would be more comfortable with how they view baptism of the Holy Spirit than that of the Roman Catholic and most Protestant churches. One of the advantages of being non-denominational is that I don't have to view the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches as naught but a bunch of false prophets.

That's just fine as far as I'm concerned - 12/05/2011 02:23:44 PM 802 Views
Yes, I suppose a church could go that route. - 14/05/2011 07:38:02 AM 761 Views

So, everyone hates Judith, then? - 12/05/2011 06:40:11 PM 789 Views
The Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Churches accept Judith as part of Scripture. - 12/05/2011 07:51:27 PM 757 Views
Does the Eastern Orthodox Church also segregate deuterocanonical works like Roman Catholicism does? - 14/05/2011 02:19:03 AM 1070 Views
