They talked about right-wing this and right-wing that and it turned out at the end of the day the shooter was a lefty nut.

The other side is obsessed with labels.

It's hard to believe you're serious here. This whole argument started because the right tried to flip it around and make him left. If the lefties were obnoxiously trying to go "OH, yes, we knew it, righties are KILLERS," that is not right and I don't condone it. However, what the right should have said was, "Yes, well, in true terms, he was a right wing extremist, and in no way represents the vast majority of sensible, right-leaning people." They should NOT pretend it's just not true at all.

Edit for clarity: I'm addressing the latter part of your reply, about being obsessed with labels. It is unfair to say that the left is the only party here trying to make a tag stick.
