What about those who don't have an id and have been voting fine before?

I am ALL for making sure that everyone who CAN vote, does. However, you should also have to PROVE who you are. That is not an unreasonable request by the state.
It doesn't *sound* unreasonable, but it has scary effects. A lot of these laws vary from state to state and are very different. What if your only acceptable form of id has expired? What if you're not sure what exactly are your state's voter id laws and if you can meet them? It doesn't matter if the actual law seems to be perfectly fair and reasonable if the effect is that people who are on the fringes of society to begin with feel intimidated about voting (let alone if there are actual substantial barriers)
How does requiring photo ID disenfranchise the black/minority community?
