The European nations that have had the greatest success with socialism are ethnically homogeneous and have socialist trends in their cultures. America is neither.


Canada is most definitely *not* ethnically homogeneous. We seem to be doing fine with our healthcare.

We could also devalue our currency and see high inflation (I don't think the government would let it get to hyperinflation, but I could easily see double-digit inflation). Combined with higher taxes, that just MIGHT allow the government to avoid complete default.


Oh, and Canada's inflation is much more consistent than that of the U.S. Canada experiences Inflation of between 2-4% per year. And Canada's transparent policy means that the bank is held accountable to that...everyone would know near instantly if they deviated from it. And would adjust near automatically too.

As opposed to the U.S. which, in an issue of Mclean back in 2005, David Dodge referred to as "a Kremlin-type world where people are looking at every ending on every syllable trying to divine what you're going to do."
