How is that really relevant, then? Ghavrel Send a noteboard - 27/06/2017 11:03:34 PM

My father and I chose to work two jobs so our wives weren't required to work. How many single income producer households exist today?

Then why did you bring it up?

View original postPlus, in case you haven't noticed, the average American works well over 40 hours a week. Because people do what they have to do. Or, they cry for income redistribution.

Again, saying "people do what they have to do, so the system is ideal" is not really much of an argument. In fact, it's not an argument at all. It's simply saying "this is the way things are." Of course people do what they have to do. But why is it that people doing what they have to do in the United States is so vastly different from, say, Germany? They work fewer hours per week there than in the US. Same with Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the UK, and Canada.

Conversely, there are plenty of countries without labor laws where people--including children--do what they have to do. Why is America the one that got it right? You haven't addressed this. Or do you think any redistribution of wealth is bad?

"We feel safe when we read what we recognise, what does not challenge our way of thinking.... a steady acceptance of pre-arranged patterns leads to the inability to question what we are told."
