...it doesn't. That's why it's not the solution which offers the best prognosis. That was the point. Ghavrel Send a noteboard - 14/09/2017 03:11:04 AM

If liposuction caused people with anorexia to report a better quality of life than any other option, as opposed to killing them, it would be the remedy of choice. Liposuction doesn't, however, make anorexia go away. Transitioning can make dysphoria go away. Transitioning causes people who suffer to report a better quality of life, and despite the hysterics from people screaming about "maiming," the people who are modifying their bodies generally seem to think their situation is an improvement.

Altering your body because something is wrong with your brain isnt the way. I have no problem with adults doing with their bodies what they will, I have no issues with adults transitioning and becoming who they feel they are. But not children. Im a very different person than 12 year old me was, than 12 year old me thought I would be. It would be horrible if I physically changed something to fit who I thought I was or wanted to be at the time, only to grow into something that is entirely different, thereby harming myself forever because of a temporary state of mind in the most difficult period of change in my life.

I agree that the situation with children is very complex. I am not saying that 12 year olds should be transitioning.

But with regard to "altering your body because something is wrong with your brain," that's literally what medication does.

"We feel safe when we read what we recognise, what does not challenge our way of thinking.... a steady acceptance of pre-arranged patterns leads to the inability to question what we are told."

I wouldn't care, either, if not for the demand for official recognition. - 13/09/2017 03:41:34 PM 596 Views

Don't allow them to maim themselves. It's that simple. I don't get why you don't get it. - 14/09/2017 03:18:20 AM 544 Views

Liposuction isn't an acceptable treatment for anorexia nervosa. - 13/09/2017 11:08:07 AM 460 Views
It would be if it had the best prognosis for people with AN, though. - 13/09/2017 03:06:11 PM 486 Views
No it wouldnt. Anorexics very often are underweight to begin with. How does liposuction help? - 14/09/2017 01:53:33 AM 605 Views
...it doesn't. That's why it's not the solution which offers the best prognosis. That was the point. - 14/09/2017 03:11:04 AM 522 Views

I missed that part.... - 13/09/2017 07:00:17 PM 413 Views

I find the things they're doing with young people on this issue very troubling. - 14/09/2017 03:58:05 AM 504 Views
