But most of the more spectacular proposals being bandied about in the Democratic primary have precisely zero chance of being implemented unless they are severely watered down, even assuming the best case scenario where Democrats win the presidency, a narrow Senate majority and a couple extra House seats. And they know it. The Green New Deal in the form it was presented was a joke, and they know that too.
I'm far from impressed with the Democratic primary in general and the way they keep promising all sorts of stuff which they know goes well beyond what Congress would accept. But again, when the alternative is Trump, the Democrats can be as obnoxious and irresponsible as they want, nominate the least mainstream candidate since George McGovern if not worse, and still remain the far superior choice, at least in the presidential election.
