Jacob Albarado was not only off duty but had just sat down in his barber’s chair when he got a text from his wife. She is a 4th grade teacher at the school and his daughter is a 2nd grade student there. She texted that there was an active shooter inside the school and ended, “I love you.”

Jacob borrowed the barber’s shotgun and raced to the school where he recruited a few officers to watch his back while he went in and evacuated those able to do so, including both his wife and daughter. He stopped long enough to hug them both before ensuring all able were out before he confronted the shooter. He took him down while taking a round right through his baseball cap that creased the top of his scalp.

Hero has been defined as someone who runs toward the sound of trouble rather than away from it. This man is a hero.

The cops who did nothing should be dishonorably fired.
