I guess I would chalk that up to the fog of war and collateral damage which is still the fault of the perpetrator, but I’d really be lying if I said that your scenario really didn’t give me pause, and it would be increasingly cold comfort to me if it was my child that had been killed by someone who had possed up. Then again, what else can you do, wait outside and listen to your kids die?

It is literally madness and in such a situation I do not think we can "pre-write" a priori what we would do in such a situation. We just need to be humans and have grace and understand in such a hell remember this too is human and do what we must and hopefully we will support each other in this hell.


I suppose my issue is the timing and the will - you can’t leave kids like that with someone who has shown he’ll murder them. Something absolutely must be done, it is totally and wholly unacceptable to have cops waiting outside while the killer finishes off victims. At a certain point drastic action should take place.

Yes. To my understanding this is considered the best practices of how cops are trained right now. Now how these specific cops were trained, and did they follow their training, etc, etc. I am purposefully drifting off here for we do not know at this time.


Fuck, if it was my kid I’d volunteer to go in with a hunting knife or my bare hands - or, failing that, I’ll distract him while the cops shoot him. If I die saving a bunch of kids, I think I’m okay with that. Then again it’s all academic at this point and as you rightly pointed out, much easier to say when you’re not facing that situation.

Heads should roll for this one way or the other.


If the internet is to be believed, people who were at the actual site of the Uvalde school actually suggested stuff like that. Who knows if this actually occurred. I am not watching the videos writting down notes for there is only so much of hell I can take with my raw exposed nerves.

I will not still like either man but it would be a wonderful thing for my Governor Abbott, or President Biden to pay money / workers and do an actual investigation of what happened. I do not expect this to happen, I hope to be surprised. Government may be limited but investigations is one of its jobs, not just providing peace and something that is like justice.
