This isn't a good tactic, be you town or DF, and I'd point out it's similiar to FT's defense. FT's defense consisted of exactly two things 'I wouldn't be stupid enough to do this' which generated the whole WIFOM, and 'Isaac's guilty' which spoke of ulterior motive since even if he'd been the cop he wouldn't have any real reason to think that. Now, that "I'm not stupid" defense fell through because nobody voted for him, no one (yes, even me) was really pushing his lynch, FT just kept saying I was. At that point it jiggled together "Well, nobody's really trying to kill him, so it's not a suicidal strategy after all" and re-ignited the WIFOM. A real WIFOM is almost always grounds for a lynch, unless you have a better target, because a real WIFOM is 50/50, and those are good lynch odds compared to random or no lynch. It was also obvious that he would know this, and that he isn't suicidal, so regardless of what happened, we had to acknowledge that it wasn't a crazy strategy, and tonw or DF, he had a legitimate, non-suicidal plan in mind when revealing himself, again, restoring the WIFOM.

That you missed all this on Day 1 indicates you either didn't understand what was going on (unlikely, since everyone else did and you aren't a newb) or that you had an ulterior motive, meaning you are probably a DF, figured the claim was true, and wanted to ride his lynch to credibility. Now, the "I know better than that" excuse doesn't hold water, because if it were true, it would also imply you knew better than to assume FT wouldn't claim miller if it weren't true.
